What is my current location?
The My Location tool combines two signals:
- Browser GPS — after you click Allow & find my location and approve the browser prompt, we use high-accuracy geolocation and keep refining until readings reach about 5 m or better (down to ~1 m on capable phones outdoors).
- IP geolocation — your public IP address mapped to an approximate city/region (shown below, no permission required).
Your public IP is assigned by your ISP or mobile carrier. It may change when you reconnect, use a VPN, or switch networks.
How does GPS refinement work?
When you allow location access, PINIP.net calls the browser watchPosition API with enableHighAccuracy: true. We collect successive fixes from GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and assisted Wi‑Fi/cell data, keeping the best reading until accuracy falls within the 5 m target (or ~1 m when the device supports it).
A yellow circle on the map shows the uncertainty radius. A blue dashed marker (when available) shows the coarser IP-based estimate for comparison.
Coordinates are processed locally in your browser — we do not upload GPS fixes to our servers.
Privacy & security checks
Along with location, you see whether your IP appears to use a VPN or proxy, DNS blacklist status (when supported), and connection type (residential vs hosting). These signals help you understand how websites may classify your traffic.
When to use My Location
Share exact coordinates
Copy GPS latitude/longitude after refinement and send them to friends, delivery drivers, or field teams.
Check VPN leaks
After connecting to a VPN, compare GPS country with IP country to spot routing issues.
Travel & remote work
Verify which country your IP traffic exits from when using hotel Wi‑Fi or mobile roaming.
